Match Report | Pools 0-0 Brackley Town

Hartlepool United were held to a point by Brackley Town in a frustrating 0-0 draw at the Prestige Group Stadium as their home unbeaten streak continues in the Enterprise National League

Pools failed to capitalise on their lion’s share of possession, with a disallowed goal for the visitors within injury time very nearly stealing all the points.

Proceedings kicked off in the tenth minute after Jermaine Francis, from the left, provided a low ball in for Matty Daly, whose shot went wayward.

Jay Benn would then find a free Max Kouogun after his dipping ball in dumbfounded Brackley’s backline, the defender’s header, however, failed to fall on target.

The half-hour mark saw a number of Hartlepool shots blocked inside the box within quick succession, from both Luke Charman and Daly after a trick ball in from Benn.

Alex Reid nearly found an opener just on half-time after a great ball in from Benn was headed low and stopped well by Jonny Maxted.

Matt Lowe for Brackley had a perfect chance to finish after a low ball in Donawa fell to the forward at the back post, whose open goal chance blasted off the bar from inside the six-yard box.

The next clear-cut chance would be the game’s final, in the tenth minute of extra time, Brackley fumbled in from a difficult inswinger from Jack Price; however, the goal was called off for offside.
