Tom Parkes named Pools Captain

Hartlepool United are pleased to announce that Tom Parkes has been named as Club Captain for the 2025-26 season.

The defender has worked closely with Pools boss Simon Grayson to make sure that the group is well prepared going into Saturday’s Enterprise National League opener away to Yeovil Town.

Nathan Sheron has been appointed as his vice-captain.

“I’m very proud to be captain of this Club,” Parkes said.

“I got the duty towards the back of last season, but I’m proud to have the armband for good going into this season.

“We’re looking forward to it this year, we’ve got a good group of lads, we’re energised, and we’ve worked hard.

“Hopefully, we can do positive things this season.

“[My relationship with Simon Grayson] is good, I’ve enjoyed working with him in pre-season, which we’ve needed to make sure that we’re right going into the new campaign and, importantly, the opener against Yeovil this weekend.”

Grayson said:

“It’s never an easy decision, who to make your captain.

“He is a leader both on and off the pitch.

“He is somebody that the players look up to as well, and Sheron is exactly the same.

“But I want 11 captains, I want communicators, I want people to lead by example.”
