Goals from Anthony Mancini and Mani Dieseruvwe saw Darren Sarll’s side take all three points away to newly-promoted Boston United on Tuesday night.
Sarll made two changes to the side that faced Halifax at the weekend, with Jack Hunter and Roshaun Mathurin entering the starting line-up.
Boston took the lead after just four minutes when Jacob Hazel beat the offside trap and slotted past Adam Smith for the Pilgrims.
Pools created a few key chances in the first half as Tom Parkes headed wide, Dieseruvwe fired over and Nathan Sheron hit too high.
At the other end, Hazel was denied a second as Smith got down low to a curling strike from the edge of the box.
The introduction of Mancini at half-time certainly inspired Pools, and the Frenchman equalised on 54 minutes after playing a one-two with Mathurin before firing into the bottom corner.
And seven minutes later, Pools took the lead through Dieseruvwe. The forward showed great strength to outbattle a defender in the box before slamming Kieron Freeman’s cross into the top left corner.
Sarll’s side continued to push in the remaining stages. Joe Grey tested the keeper, while Mancini also sent an effort over and had a shot saved at point-blank range.
In the end, the visitors held onto all three points at the Jakemans Community Stadium with Mancini and Dieseruvwe making headlines.
