Preview: U19s, SYT and U16s set for Weekend Action

Hartlepool U19’s kick off their Academy Cup Campaign while both our U16’s and SYT squad return to league action.

Here’s everything you need to know…

Under-19s

Alex Cross’s Under-19s welcome South Shields to Blackhall Welfare Park in the Academy Cup on Wednesday afternoon (1:30pm kick-off).

Pools will look to kickstart a memorable cup campaign following an earlier than anticipated exit from the FA Youth Cup.

Last time out, Joe Aungiers snatched an equaliser for Pools to claim a 1-1 draw away at Solihull Moors.

Wednesday’s opponents sit bottom of National League U19 Alliance, winless in their opening three games, losing to FC Halifax, York City and most recently Chester.

Former Blyth Spartan and York City Midfielder Paul Robinson will oversee South Shields for the upcoming game.

SYT

Our SYT squad return to National Youth League action as they travel to Bridlington Town Reds on Wednesday (2pm Kick-off).

Paul Johnson’s side can move up to fourth with a win on the road.

After a 5-3 victory against local rivals Newcastle, Johnson’s side fell to a 4-0 defeat last time out at Morpeth Town FC.

Wednesday’s opponents sit 10th in the National Football Youth League, with just three points from their opening three fixtures.

They go into the fixture winless in two, following a 6-2 loss to Blyth Spartans last week.

Under-16s

Our Under-16s welcome JPL Premier League leaders UFCA to Blackhall Welfare Park on Friday Afternoon.

Damian Shanahan’s side could move up to sixth if they can upset an unbeaten UFCA.

After picking up their only point in the first home game of the season, Pools are winless in two, falling to a 6-0 defeat at home to York City last time out.

Friday’s visitors are as tough as it gets for Pools, currently unbeaten, top of the league and averaging three goals per game.

They go into the fixture coming off the back of a 4-2 victory at home to Stockport Town.
