Hartlepool United have completed the loan signing of attacker Tyrese Sinclair from York City, subject to National League approval.
The 24-year-old joins Pools for the remainder of the campaign after agreeing personal terms and successfully completing a medical.
Sinclair arrives at the Prestige Group Stadium with significant experience across the Football League and Enterprise National League, having made over 200 senior appearances, scoring 33 goals and providing 15 assists.
A dynamic and versatile forward, he offers pace, creativity and proven attacking output, reflecting Nicky Featherstone’s focus on adding goals and assists to his attacking options for the remainder of the campaign.
Sinclair featured 12 times for York City earlier this season, registering one assist, before joining Solihull Moors on a short-term loan in October, where he made 10 appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
He began his youth career at Blackburn Rovers before joining Mansfield Town, where he was named Academy Player of the Year after helping their Under-18 side lift the EFL Youth Alliance title. He went on to make 44 senior appearances for the Stags, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
After a loan spell in League Two with Scunthorpe United, Sinclair joined Rochdale, making 70 appearances across League Two and the National League. He enjoyed a particularly productive 2023/24 National League campaign, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists.
He carried that form into the 2024/25 season with York City, registering eight goals and four assists across league and cup competition, underlining his consistent end product and creative influence at National League level.

Speaking after signing for Pools, Tyrese Sinclair said: “As soon as I heard about the chance to join Pools, I jumped at it. It’s a big club with a proper fanbase and I’ve played here before, so I know what it’s like. It’s never an easy place to come and I’m really looking forward to being on the right side of that and playing in front of the home crowd.
“Speaking to Nicky was a big part of the decision for me. He was clear about the standards he expects and about where I fit in and what he wants from me, to come in, play on the front foot and add goals and creativity to our attacking play. He was straight with me, which I liked, and it made the decision easy.
“From the conversations I’ve had and being around the place already, you can feel there’s a good atmosphere around the club and there’s still a lot to play for this season. We want to keep pushing on, keep picking up results and put pressure on the teams above us, and I want to play my part in that. I can’t wait to get started now and try to make an impact as quickly as I can.”
Sinclair becomes Pools’ third signing of the January transfer window, following the arrival of goalkeeper Nick Hayes from Southend United earlier this month and yesterday’s announcement confirming the return of former fan favourite Gavan Holohan from Crawley Town.
Nicky Featherstone, First Team Manager, added: “Tyrese is exactly the type of profile we wanted to bring into the club. He’s a player we’ve faced before and someone I’ve played against, so we know first-hand the threat he can carry in attacking areas.
“Although he’s still only 24, he’s already built up a significant amount of senior football, and that experience really stood out to us. The work we’ve done through our scouting and analysis showed that he fits exactly what we’re looking for, and the data backed up what we’d seen on the pitch.
“He’s an exciting attacking player who can create chances, score goals and operate across a number of positions along the front line, which gives us real flexibility. He’s shown real enthusiasm about joining the club and making an impact and we believe he’ll give us something different as we push on through the remainder of the season.”
