Pools host Rochdale in midweek

Pools look to bounce back from a recent home defeat as they face Rochdale under the lights at the Prestige Group Stadium in National League action.

The home side have drawn four and lost one home game so far this season, as the wait for a win on home soil goes on. Most recently, Pools lost narrowly to Dagenham and Redbridge despite creating chances throughout.

Pools left-back David Ferguson was shown a second yellow late on, thus missing Tuesday night’s fixture, however Darren Sarll will be able to welcome back his captain Luke Waterfall after a four-game ban.

Rochdale started the season brightly with a recent run of four wins on the bounce, before losing their last two fixture. Their most recent came away at Eastleigh, falling to a 4-2 defeat despite taking the lead just six minutes in.

From The Gaffer

“I thought Saturday was a better showing – the players showed good attitude but the early error was really disappointing,” stated Darren Sarll.

“We need to score goals and we need to deliver 11 players by the end of the game. We need to ensure the last touch is a critical last touch.

“The positive thing about football is the next positive moment is only one game away, and we look to push that and deliver it to everyone on Tuesday.”

Last Meeting

The last meeting between the two sides came in April where Pools came away with a point away from home in a 1-1 draw.

Joe Grey opened the scoring for Pools in the second half after Rochdale were reduced to ten men, but the home side clinched a point with a 95th minute equaliser through former Pools forward, Devante Rodney.

Rodney is now joined by another former Pools player, Courtney Senior, in the Rochdale dressing room.

Team News

Joel Dixon, Kieron Freeman and Kieran Wallace will miss Tuesday’s fixture through injury while David Ferguson will serve a one-match suspension.

Jack Hunter and Adam Campbell also remain doubtful, having missed Saturday’s fixture with injuries.

Luke Waterfall will return to contention after serving a four-game suspension.
