Poolies set to “Turn Boston Pink” as final away day unites fans for charity

Hartlepool United supporters are set to create a sea of pink at The Jakemans Community Stadium on Saturday 25 April, as the Club’s end of season Fancy Dress tradition returns with a clear charitable focus.

For the final away fixture of the campaign against Boston United, Poolies are being encouraged to “Turn Boston Pink” in support of local charities, Breast Cancer and Alice House Hospice.

Now a 15-year supporter led tradition, the final away day has seen Hartlepool fans travel the country in numbers, from Smurfs and Oompa Loompas to Stormtroopers and penguins, earning a reputation for their creativity, humour and loyal backing.

This season fans encouraged to adopt a pink theme to create a unified display while raising awareness and funds for two important causes.

Supporters can take part in a variety of ways, from pink shirts, scarves and bucket hats to full themed outfits, whether that’s Pink Panthers, flamingos, Peppa Pig or simply groups of friends putting their own twist on it.

The Club has partnered with local embroidery specialist Logo To Go to launch a limited-edition range of pink-themed T-shirts, with all profits supporting the selected charities.

John Pearson, said: “This is something our fans take huge pride in every year and it has become a real part of Pool’s identity, especially around that final away day. Wherever we go, our supporters find a way to stand out and represent the Club with colour, humour and a real sense of togetherness.

“By turning Boston pink this year, we are not only continuing that tradition but giving it a clear purpose. It’s a chance to come together behind two causes that mean a great deal to people across our town and to use football as a force for good.

“What makes this special is that it is driven by the fans themselves. This idea simply gives everyone something to rally around, and hopefully we will see a real sea of pink in the away end.

“We would encourage as many supporters as possible to take part, support the charities and help create an occasion that everyone connected to the Club can be proud of.”

The final day Fancy Dress tradition has become a defining feature of Pool’s travelling support, with fans earning widespread admiration for their organisation, creativity and imagination.

In recent years, the initiative has grown in profile beyond Hartlepool, evolving from a light-hearted end-of-season tradition into a recognised fixture in the football calendar.

Supporters can purchase the limited-edition ‘Turn Boston Pink’ T-shirts online via Pools Retail or in person at Logo To Go.
