Gibson provides honest reflection following Kidderminster defeat

“We can put things right,” says Hartlepool United defender Liam Gibson after his side’s 2-0 defeat away to Kidderminster Harriers in the Enterprise National League on Friday night.

A Neo Eccleston own goal and Callum Stewart’s late header secured the three points for the Harriers, with Gibson highlighting the positive that Pools have a league clash against Altrincham next midweek to bounce back.

The defender joined Lee Clark’s side in the summer and brings a wealth of experience, having racked up over 170 appearances across League One and League Two during a career spanning over a decade.

“It’s good that we’ve got a game on Wednesday, so we can put things right,” Gibson said.

“I think consistency is a problem – we’re winning games, but not backing it up. We know what needs to be done to put things right.

“We’ll go and look at it [the game] over the weekend and see where we can improve.”

The defender, who has made five National League appearances so far this season, praised the support of the 225 travelling Poolies at Aggborough Stadium.

“They’ve been brilliant throughout the start of the season,” he added.

“We need to reward them for travelling in their numbers, and give them something to shout about when we’re going away from home.”
