David Ferguson named Community Player of the Year

13 April 2024

We are delighted to announce that our 2023/24 Community Player of the Year trophy has been awarded to David Ferguson.

The left-back has been chosen for the award for his commitment and dedication to the local community, and for his support to our Community Foundation during the season.

Ferguson joined Pools in 2020 and has amassed nearly 200 appearances for the Club, but it has been his work off the pitch that has clinched Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation’s annual award.

He has supported HUCSF staff at football sessions funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour during the school holidays, attended disability-specific football sessions where he’s met many avid Pools supporters and supported local clubs such as Pools Youth FC with their presentation evenings.

Upon claiming the award, Ferguson stated:

“It’s a great privilege to be named as Community Player of the Year. Meeting people in the local community and helping the Foundation is hugely important for myself and the team. They've done a lot of great work in the local area, and to be a part of that is excellent.”

Keith Nobbs, Manager of HUCSF, added:

“We’re proud to give the award to David - he’s been passionate towards our work and a huge help during the four years he’s been at the Club. The whole team have supported us but David has been a fantastic role model with his involvement in the community.

“We’ve had an extremely successful year at the Foundation with a variety of programmes. We’d like to thank the Club and the fans for their support and we’re looking forward to next year.”

Keith Nobbs will present the award to David Ferguson at 2:45pm on Saturday afternoon, ahead of our final home game against Dagenham & Redbridge.
