Nathan Sheron is hopeful that Hartlepool United can find their form again after a string of draws as they face Aldershot Town in the Enterprise National League
Speaking to the local press, the Pools vice-captain expressed the ambitions of the team still lie in success.
“The ambition for us is to finish in the play-offs, and as high as possible.
“So as a collective, we want to be pushing up the top of the table.”
Reflecting on last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Brackley Town, Sheron dubbed the result “really disappointing.
“We came away with a point and a clean sheet, but we know ourselves that we weren’t at the races, and we’ve got to do a lot better if we want to kick on.
“A few words were said after the game, and there was a lot of disappointment, but we feel like we’ve had a really good week this week.
“We’ve come in, analysed where we went wrong and where we could improve.”
Looking ahead to the trip to Aldershot, Sheron is hopeful that Pools will rekindle the form that they had at the beginning of the campaign.
“They’ve scored a lot of goals, but they’ve also conceded a lot of goals.
“We’ve done a lot of work this week on where we think we can hurt them, and hopefully we can come back from the disappointment from last weekend, and probably the last few games, start fresh, and hopefully go on and get three points.
Despite the poor run of form that the Shots find themselves in, Sheron does not underestimate the challenge ahead.
“Every game we play is a tough game, regardless of where it is and who we play.
“I’ve played at this level for a while now, and that’s what I’ve realised is that it doesn’t matter where you are in the table or how you’re doing or who’s in form and who’s not.
“You’re never going to have an easy game.
“I’ve been down to Aldershot a few times, and it’s always a tough game.
“They’re no mugs by any means, they’re an experienced team, they’ve got some really good players.
“If we can take what we’ve worked on this week into Saturday, then hopefully we can come out on top.”
