Hartlepool United Academy Manager, Ian McGuckin, is expecting a challenge in tonight’s FA Youth Cup tie against Blyth Spartans.
The young Pools side welcome Spartans to the Prestige Group Stadium at 7pm in the FA Youth Cup second qualifying round.
The two sides met in the same stage of the competition last year, with Pools securing a 5-1 win.
“Blyth will be out for revenge so we’re expecting a really tough encounter,” previewed McGuckin.
“They’ve got an experienced management team in Marc Nash and Graham Fenton, who will have them well prepared going into tonight.
“We’ve had a tough run of form over the last few weeks but having no game at the weekend allowed several injured players to recover. It’s made us stronger and gave us more time to prepare for tonight.
“It’s a new experience for the younger lads who haven’t played at the Stadium before. Hopefully we’ll have a good crowd behind us, we’re really looking forward to it.
“It’s a great competition and one we want to do well in. A few seasons ago, we brought Liverpool to the Vic, so it can produce some excellent memories and interesting challenges.
“Tonight should be another good game and one we can’t wait for.”
