Match Report | Yeovil Town 0-0 Pools

Yeovil Town and Hartlepool United served up a goalless draw in a tightly contested Enterprise National League season opener at Huish Park.

Pools edged the first half, with Yeovil largely defending and relying on debutant goalkeeper Jed Ward to keep them level.

Ward produced a couple of fine saves to maintain parity through the opening 45 minutes.

The game did not produce many notable moments in the first period, although Pools saw a handful of chances come their way.

The best of the first half came in the 39th minute as Cameron John laid off Danny Johnson in the 18-yard box, but Ward was on hand to prevent the forward.

Harvey Cartwright came into action properly in the second half, as he denied Finn Cousin-Dawson an opener right from the off.

Alex Reid had a few chances to open the scoring for Pools, but the Glovers goalkeeper kept the score level.

The game’s best moment came in the closing stages when substitute Ben Wodskou pounced on a through ball but saw his shot well saved by Cartwright.

Despite late pressure, both sides couldn’t break the deadlock, earning a share of the spoils on a fairly even opener.
