Match Report | Redcar Athletic 0-3 Pools

Hartlepool United’s away leg of pre-season concluded in a 3-0 victory over Redcar Athletic at the Hollou Sports Stadium.

Danny Johnson opened the score after 30 minutes before Jamie Miley scored just before half-time.

A Trialist added a third in the second half to complete the win in the pouring rain.

Redcar started the first half strongly with a few chances but could not break Pools down.

Adam Campbell came close to scoring after 15 minutes with a sweet strike which needed pushing over by Redcar’s goalkeeper Josh Mazfari.

Johnson’s first goal came on the half-hour mark after some well-worked football, allowing him to slot home.

Pools came close to a second five minutes later but were denied by some off-the-line defending by Redcar.

Miley’s solo run allowed him space to strike home a second for Pools in the 44th minute.

It would be a story of the woodwork for Pools in the second half as Brad Walker came close a number of times as well as a near-screamer from a Trialist.

A Trialist managed to scramble a third over the line past Mazfari with ten minutes to play.

Luke Charman departed the game late on with a head injury, replaced by Kian Foreman.
