Match of the Dames comes to Hartlepool

Hartlepool United welcomes Anne Morris and her Dames along to the Prestige Group Stadium on Saturday as part of her Match of the Dames initiative.

The aim is to get more females into the stands of non-league Clubs.

While women’s football has grown enormously in the past 5 years and the Premier League slowly but steadily diversifies, more needs to be done within non-league football, and local Clubs are at the heart of that community.

Anne, an avid Altrincham FC supporter, has made it her mission this season to attend 20 non-league matches and invite new groups of women to each game.

This means 20 first-timers will attend a welcoming and unforgettable female-friendly experience.

The end goal of this is a community of 400 new local football superfans.

Match of the Dames are partners with Altrincham FC, and Alty CEO Sam Mackenzie is a huge supporter.

With Sam’s support, Anne has hosted a number of matches at Altrincham and at several of their away fixtures.

It is Hartlepool United’s turn, and 20 women will experience Pools for hopefully the first of many occasions.

Match of the Dames wants local Clubs to be real community hubs again – in a way that benefits the world inside and outside the grounds.

Give the Dames a vibrant, balanced and all-round electric matchday experience for every fan.

This is something Her Game Too 100% supports, and Anne contacted our Ambassador Jill a few months ago for her support in publicising this fixture.

Anne told us:

“Match of the Dames is delighted to be coming to Hartlepool for such an eagerly anticipated fixture.

“For our guests, it will be their first visit to a National League game and, with the ground set to be full, the atmosphere is going to be electric!

“I’m so grateful for Jill and her team at Her Game Too giving the Dames such support and a warm welcome on what will be a stand-out game at the halfway point of our season.”

Jill added:

“Anne’s mission is amazing, and it is brilliant to see so many females engaging in it across the National League this season.

“We hope everyone has a great matchday experience and it’s just the start of a community of female HUFC supporters that can be built on well into the future.”
