Loan Watch: Storey scores twice in West Auckland win

Max Storey found the net twice on Saturday afternoon as the winger helped West Auckland Town secure a 4-2 win over Tow Law Town.

The 19-year-old played 84 minutes at The Wanted Stadium and scored the opener on six minutes, before doubling his tally with 20 to play.

Two other Hartlepool players were involved in the game, with Alfie Steel starting up front for West Auckland before being replaced by Joe Aungiers on 66 minutes.

Mangerless West Auckland have moved up to 12th in Northern League Division One and turn their attention to North Shields on Friday night.

It was a Saturday spent on the training pitch for Greg Sloggett’s Boston United.

The Pilgrims were, however, in midweek action at Wealdstone on Tuesday night.

Sloggett made his third appearance for Boston, coming on after 67 minutes, but the midfielder couldn’t change the Pilgrims’ fortunes as they suffered a 1-0 defeat following a first half Alex Reid goal.

Boston have slipped into the relegation zone on goal difference and return to action on Tuesday night with a trip to Aldershot Town.

Hope was restored for Manny Onariase’s Maidenhead United at the weekend, as they secured a crucial win in their quest for survival in the National League.

The Magpies claimed a 3-1 win over Tamworth following Shawn McCoulsky’s double and a Joshua Johnson goal.

Onariase played the full 90 minutes for Alan Devonshire’s side, and spoke to the Maidenhead Advertiser at full time.

“It was a tough game but it was a good performance,” he stated.

“Everyone dug deep and worked hard for each other. We’ve got five cup finals to go and we’re not going to give up – we’re ready to fight.”

Maidenhead sit one place below Boston, two points from safety.

Celebrations were on show for Redcar Athletic, who took a huge stride forward in their search for the Northern League title.

Pools goalkeeper Josh Mazfari was in between the sticks as Carl Jarrett’s side secured a 3-1 win at Newcastle Blue Star, courtesy of an Adam Boyes hat-trick.

With two games to go, Redcar just need one win to be crowned Northern League champions.

And finally, it was an afternoon to forget for Seaham Red Star, who shipped three away to Crook Town.

Academy duo Tye Grundle and Eddie Ormerod were named on the bench for Mark Collingwood’s side, who sit two points from safety in Northern League Division One.
