Jamie Miley signs for Pools

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the permanent signing of central midfielder Jamie Miley from Newcastle United.

The 21-year-old puts pen to paper at the Prestige Group Stadium having trained with the squad over the last fortnight.

Miley has enjoyed nearly a decade of development with Premier League side Newcastle, having joined the Magpies at the age of 11.

He made his Newcastle United U21s debut as a 17-year-old against Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Trophy and went on to play for the first team in several pre-season fixtures.

Miley gained experience in League Two during the first half of this season, playing eight times on loan at Newport County.

Now the midfielder joins Hartlepool United ahead of Saturday’s trip to Braintree Town. He has been assigned the number 18 shirt.

Upon joining Pools, Miley stated:
“I’m delighted to be here. I had a great feeling as soon as I walked into training and I really wanted to get things over the line.

“I can’t wait to get going and playing in front of the fans. I’ve seen videos of the fanbase and, being a North East lad, I know how passionate the supporters can be so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Pools manager Lennie Lawrence added:
“We’re delighted to bring Jamie to the Club. He’s shown fantastic attitude during his time training with us and we’re really pleased to have him here permanently. It shows intent from the Club and Chairman in making this kind of signing, both to strengthen the squad now but also with longer term planning.

“Jamie has great quality and real potential. He’s been unfortunate with injuries over the last year, but hopefully we can provide him with a home where he can enjoy his football and continue to grow as a player.”
