Hartlepool United suffered back-to-back late defeats when they went down 3-2 against Aldershot Town.
Mani Dieseruvwe came off the bench to bring Pools back to 2-2 just 10 minutes from time and a point was the least Anthony Limbrick’s team deserved.
But four minutes into six added minutes, relegation-threatened Shots stole a dramatic winner.
Tyler Frost put in a cross which Jack Barham headed back across goal, with Josh Barrett ghosting in for an easy finish.
The Sky Blues’ defence all appealed for offside but the goal was given and, four days after Altrincham scored twice at the death to win 2-1 at the Prestige Group Stadium, Pools were beaten again.
Limbrick rang the changes for the long trip to Hampshire, making five alterations to the XI from Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat to Altrincham.
Nathan Sheron, back from a two-game suspension, and Tom Parkes, back from injury, both retuned to the side.
January signing Jack Robinson was brought in for his first start, while Luke Charman and Gary Madine were restored to the starting XI.
David Ferguson, Sam Folarin and Dieseruvwe stepped down to the bench while Louis Stephenson and Greg Sloggett dropped out of the squad altogether.
Aldershot had a chance in the first 10 seconds through Jack Barham, who was thwarted by Adam Smith.
It was a bright opening by both teams, with Adam Campbell having the ball in the home net after getting on the end of a Jamie Miley through ball, but the linesman’s flag was up for offside.
If Pools’ luck was out then, they were blessed with some good fortune when going ahead in the 20th minute.
Madine and Charman linked up superbly in an attack towards the area and with Gary about to have a shot, Frost slid in to beat his own keeper from 18 yards, the ball finishing in Marcus Dewhurst’s bottom right corner.
It was not an undeserved lead but as the half wore on, the Shots stepped up the pressure though Luke Waterfall and Tom Parkes stood strong.
Pools should have doubled their lead on 50 minutes when fantastic play from Madine put it on a plate for Reyes Cleary.
The on-loan winger only had Dewhurst to beat but put he shot straight at the goalie.
A minute later he was found in another good position in the away box but rather than shoot, he tried to play the ball inside and the Shots cleared.
It was one of his last touches as he was part of a double substitution, coming off with Robinson, as Joe Grey and Ferguson stepped onto the park.
Pools were soon pegged back when a low ball from the left could not be cleared, and when Parkes tried to get it away, it rebounded off a team-mate and nestled in Smith’s net.
And Pools fell behind in the 68th minute.
Ferguson made an excellent defensive clearance to save his side, but from the resulting corner, the ball was played short to Cameron Hargreaves who made room to shoot with his low attempt beating Smith down to the keeper’s left.
Both teams had chances as the game went end to end, with Dewhurst tipping over a Charman piledriver, before the Shots threatened on the break through Barham but Smith made a strong block.
Limbrick had introduced Folarin and Dieseruvwe from the bench and they combined to bring Pools level 10 minutes from time.
Pools had turned defence into attack down the right before Folarin played in a low cross which Dieseruvwe smashed in from 10 yards.
The sky blues went in search of a winner but Aldershot had other ideas as Barrett found the back of the net in the 95th minute.
