Featherstone: “These are the games you have to look at and want to win.”

Nicky Featherstone reflects on a ‘really exciting’ week as Hartlepool United take on Aldershot Town at home in the Enterprise National League tomorrow.

On the clash against the Shots, Featherstone told local press: “I’m expecting a really tough game again.

They’re capable of scoring a lot of goals, there’s a real openness to how they play.

“They’ll be a threat, but like I keep saying if we want to be challenging the top end of the league and push for that final play-off spot, these are the games you have to look at and want to win.”

After three games in seven days saw Pools claim seven points, Featherstone described preparations this week as a ‘chance to recharge’.

“[It was] a tough week in terms of physically but also mentally with having the new owner across.

“The extra pressure with extra fans, bouncing back from Woking was massive.

“A real opportunity for the players to recharge mentally.”

Pools bolstered their squad this week with the return of Gavan Holohan from Crawley Town and the loan signing of Tyrese Sinclair from York City. The manager expressed his excitement at the deals, saying:

“I know him really well, Gav. He’s a really good character around the place, a top professional.

“He offers something different to that midfield – he is attack-minded, wants to get beyond the striker, gets in the box and is a goal threat as we all know.

“He’s got EFL pedigree in the last 2-3 years.

“[Tyrese] is a really exciting one for us. A confident lad – real scope and potential to play a lot higher.

He’s a goal threat, directness, quick, but also works his socks off for his team as well he’s not scared to do the other side.

I think the fans relate to that as much as anything at this Club.

[Signings] have been a more rounded, thorough process in the last 2-3 weeks.

We’re trying to create a culture at the Club where we’re doing things properly.

“That’s the calibre of players we are looking to bring in moving forward.”

With Jermaine Francis making the move to Sutton United earlier this week, the Pools boss added:

“Jermaine had a few personal issues. The right thing for him was to move on and get closer to home. We wish him all the luck in the world.”
