Community | Level Playing Field x Unite For Access

Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation are proud to be working with Level Playing Field’s Unite for Access Campaign from 28th February to 15th March

Level Playing Field works with sports Clubs, disabled supporters’ associations, governing bodies and other organisations to celebrate ‘Unite For Access’, an annual period of inspiration and celebration of good access and inclusion at sports venues.

Hartlepool United Disabled Supporters Association (HUDSA) will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year. In this time, the group has grown and grown. Starting with nothing, the group is now able to offer short breaks and respite ones at our two adapted caravans at Primrose Valley and Haven Lakeland in the southern lakes, half an hour away from Windermere and Coniston.

In 2018, the Association was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is equivalent to an MBE. In the same year we were also nominated for an award at an event at the Tower of London.

HUDSA is holding a special needs disco at the Catholic Club on Marlowe Road. Included in these are several celebrations, including Easter, Halloween and Christmas parties.

If anyone would like any information on the group or its activities, please contact: neilappleyard@hotmail.com

The Foundation has strengthened its commitment to inclusion with the continued growth of its disability football sessions, offering life-changing opportunities for adults with additional needs across the town, the weekly sessions provide a safe, supportive, and fully inclusive environment where participants can enjoy football at their own pace. Coaches tailor activities to individual abilities, helping players build confidence, improve physical fitness, and develop key motor skills in a fun and engaging setting.

Beyond the sporting benefits, the programme is helping to reduce social isolation by creating a welcoming space for friendships, teamwork, and shared achievement. Many families describe the sessions as a vital part of their routine, offering structure, positivity, and a strong sense of belonging.

Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation remains committed to ensuring football is accessible to all, continuing to break down barriers and champion inclusion throughout the local area.

The Foundation is currently delivering Adult Disability football sessions in Hartlepool at:

Brierton Sports Centre, Tuesdays 1.30-2.30pm with the Dimensions Disability Group

High Tunstall College of Science 2.00-3.00pm Thursdays through Tees Valley Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust.
