Cameron John joins Pools on season-long loan

Hartlepool United Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Cameron John on a season-long loan from York City

The 25-year-old defender came through the Southend United academy before moving to Wolves in 2015.

Spells at Doncaster Rovers and Rochdale followed before making the move to York in 2024, making 33 appearances and scoring twice.

John has over 60 appearances in the National League as well as over 70 appearances played in the Football League.

On signing for Pools, John said:

“I am excited to be here.

“It is nice to get a fresh start, a fresh challenge, and I am excited for the season to start.

“I hope to bring my experience and winning mentality to the Club.”

Pools boss Simon Grayson said:

“Cameron John has the right level of experience playing in the National League that we have been looking for.

“He’s a versatile player, comfortable playing anywhere asked of him, allowing balance for our team.

“We are delighted to have him on board now, and he is certainly one we want for the long haul with a possibility this may turn into a permanent contract down the line.’’
