Brougham pupils learn about respect and ambition through No Room For Racism campaign

As part of the Premier League’s No Room For Racism campaign this week, United for the Community delivered a workshop with Year 5 pupils at Brougham Primary School, exploring respect, role models and aiming high.

Using Premier League Primary Stars resources, pupils learnt about the importance of treating everyone fairly and respecting each other, regardless of race, skin colour or background.

The session encouraged children to explore what makes a positive role model and how their own words and actions can help others feel valued and included. Pupils also discussed believing in themselves and pursuing their ambitions, recognising that everyone should have the opportunity to aim high, no matter who they are or where they come from.

The Year 5 pupils engaged enthusiastically throughout the workshop, sharing their ideas and enjoying the activities and discussions.

Through sessions like this, United for the Community uses the power of football to help children understand the importance of inclusion and the role they can play in challenging discrimination, both on and off the pitch.

All Premier League matches played between 17 and 25 October will be dedicated to No Room For Racism, highlighting the importance of diversity and reaffirming that discrimination has no place in our game.

Everyone has a role to play in ensuring football is inclusive for all. Together, we can make it clear that there is no room for racism or any other form of discrimination.

Greatness comes from everywhere. Football is a diverse sport that brings together communities and cultures, and we are committed to ensuring that diversity is reflected across every area of the game.

The Premier League and its clubs are taking action to tackle all forms of discrimination and promote diversity, and we can all play a part by reporting racist abuse.

Action: Challenge it, report it, change it.

Keith Nobbs, United for the Community manager, said: “At Hartlepool United, we believe football is for everyone. Racism and discrimination have no place in our club, our community, or our game.

“We proudly stand with the Premier League’s No Room for Racism campaign and reaffirm our commitment to promoting equality, respect, and inclusion both on and off the pitch.

“Whether in the stands, on social media, or in everyday life, we all have a role to play in challenging discrimination and creating a welcoming environment for all.

“Through United For The Community, we continue to deliver anti-racism education in local Primary schools, empowering young people to speak out against hate and celebrate diversity.

“This is supported by the Premier League Primary Stars (PLPS) Workshops, which give voice to the next generation and reflect the strength of our town’s unity.”

United for the Community encourage all supporters to report any incidents of racism or discrimination they witness. As a club, we commit to making sure everyone feels safe, valued, and proud to belong.
