Hartlepool United is delighted to confirm that Jack Nolan will join the Club following the expiry of his contract with Morecambe.
The 25-year-old forward has agreed a two-year contract at Victoria Park, keeping him at Pools until June 2028. The agreement will take effect, subject to the relevant approvals, on 1 July.
Nolan becomes the second new addition of the summer following the arrival of Jordan Hugill as Pools continue to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Nolan arrives at Victoria Park following a standout campaign in which he recorded 27 goal contributions in the National League, establishing himself as one of the division’s most effective attacking players.
Despite a difficult season for Morecambe, which ended in relegation, Nolan was the Club’s standout performer, finishing as the leading goalscorer and Player of the Season with 19 goals and eight assists in the league.
A product of Reading’s Academy, Nolan progressed through the Royals’ youth system before earning international recognition with England at Under-17 level.
After making his senior breakthrough with Walsall, he joined Accrington Stanley in 2021 and went on to establish himself as one of League Two’s most productive attacking players, scoring 18 goals and providing 18 assists in 80 appearances.
A move to Gillingham followed in 2024 before Nolan joined Morecambe the following year, where he enjoyed the most prolific season of his career.
Nolan arrives at Pools with more than 170 senior appearances to his name, alongside a record of 38 goals and 30 assists across the EFL and National League.
Speaking after agreeing terms with Pools, Jack Nolan said: “I’m delighted to be joining Hartlepool United and I’m really looking forward to getting started.
“There was interest from a number of clubs this summer, but once I knew there was an opportunity to come to Pools, it was one that really appealed to me.Â
“Pools is a massive football club with a proud history, passionate supporters and clear ambition for the future.Â
“I’ve played at Victoria Park as an opposition player and it was never an easy place to come. The supporters create a brilliant atmosphere and make it a difficult place for visiting teams.
“To now have the opportunity to play in front of those supporters rather than against them is something I’m really excited about.
“The opportunity to play for Lee Clark was another big factor for me. He’s got a fantastic reputation in the game and the chance to work with him and learn from his experience was something that really appealed to me.
“I enjoyed a positive season personally last year, but football is always about what you achieve as a team. My aim is to bring goals, assists and attacking quality to the squad and do everything I can to help the Club have a successful season.
“From the moment I knew there was a chance to join Pools, it was something I wanted to make happen. I can’t wait to pull on the shirt, play in front of the supporters and get started.”Â
Nolan’s arrival represents another significant step in Pools’ summer recruitment strategy following the signing of Jordan Hugill and the retention of key players Luke Charman and Jack Hunter.
Lee Clark, First Team Head Coach at Hartlepool United, said: “This is a really exciting signing for Pools and one I believe our supporters are going to love.
“Jack is coming to us off the back of an outstanding season in the National League and it’s easy to understand why there was so much interest in him.
“His goals and assists speak for themselves, but when you watch him play you see a player who wants to make things happen. He’s direct, positive, carries a real attacking threat and has the ability to produce moments that can change games.
“He already has valuable Football League experience behind him and, at 25, we believe he’s entering the best years of his career.
“We’re building a squad that is packed with attacking threat and Jack adds that in abundance. To produce the level of goals and assists he did last season takes real quality and consistency.
“Jack is the type of player supporters enjoy watching. He wants the ball, he wants to take people on and he always looks to be positive in the final third.
“Just as importantly, he was hungry to come to Pools and excited by the opportunity ahead of him.
“We’re delighted to bring him to the football club and I’m looking forward to working with him. I have no doubt he’ll be a player our supporters will enjoy watching at Victoria Park.”
Chris Maxwell, Head of Football Operations at Bromby & Partners, said: “Jack has been on our radar from day one, so we’re absolutely delighted to bring him to Pools.
“To score 19 goals and provide eight assists in the National League last season is an outstanding return. His talent and his numbers speak for themselves. He’s exactly the type of player supporters love watching.Â
“He plays with confidence, he wants to make things happen and he has the ability to produce moments that can change games. We believe he’s a player who will get our supporters off their seats and give them plenty to be excited about.
“There was significant competition for his signature and a number of clubs were keen to bring him in, which makes it even more pleasing that we’ve been able to get the deal over the line.
“Throughout the process, it was clear how much Jack bought into the vision that was presented to him. He understood what we’re trying to build at Pools, bought into that from the outset and was excited by the opportunity ahead.
“This is another significant signing for the football club and an important addition to the squad we’re building. Jack is an outstanding talent, he’s entering the best years of his career and we can’t wait to see him pull on a Pools shirt for the first time.”
