Match Preview | Sutton United (H)

Hartlepool United welcome Sutton United to the Prestige Group Stadium in their second consecutive midweek game in the Enterprise National League

Pools look to build on an emphatic 3-1 victory over Carlisle United in their last midweek clash.

Calvin Okike’s professional debut and first goal for Pools was the cherry on the cake for Nicky Featherstone’s team.

It is the first of two home games for Pools in five days, welcoming FC Halifax Town to TS24 on Saturday

The Opposition

Sutton United make the trip up to the North East with the hopes of keeping their survival hopes alive.

The U’s sit in 19th place, three points above the drop zone with a game in hand.

One defeat in five games sees Sutton on track to avoid the trap door, but have struggled away from home.

Their last victory on the road came in January with a 1-0 win against Tamworth.

Lewis Simper leads the U’s scoring charts with ten.

Pools fans will be familiar with Sutton’s Besart Topallaj and Jermaine Francis, who both joined the Club after a spell with Pools in the first half of the season

Last Time Out

The reverse fixture provided six goals at the VBS Community Stadium.

Luke Charman, Vadaine Oliver and Jermaine Francis were among the Pools goals in a 3-3 draw.

The fixture was Featherstone’s first National League game in interim charge.
