Hartlepool United extended their unbeaten run to seven matches in the Enterprise National League after a 3-1 victory against Truro City at the Prestige Group Stadium.
Adam Campbell opened the scoring for Pools, before Aiden Marsh equalised for the Tinners just before the hour mark.
Goals from Jamie Miley and Alex Reid sealed the victory for the hosts, making it back-to-back wins in the league.
Following Pools’ 2-0 win against Eastleigh at the Silverlake Stadium last time out, Nicky Featherstone named an unchanged lineup for the clash against the Cornwall side.
Pools were rewarded for a bright start to the game with a Campbell finish on 23 minutes. The forward’s whipped effort was too much for Dan Lavercombe, curling into the right corner to secure a fourth goal contribution in five matches.
As the first half came to a close, Matty Daly found himself one-on-one with Lavercombe but dragged his attempt wide, while Truro’s Cole Deeming curled his strike over the bar from just inside the box minutes later.
Early in the second period, Pools looked to have scored a second as Cameron John latched onto Alex Reid’s dinked ball and poked home; however, the linesman’s flag was raised.
Truro started the better side in the second period and, in the 59th minute, Deeming’s teasing cross into the box was met by Marsh, who headed home into the bottom-right corner to make it all square in Hartlepool.
Despite the setback, the hosts responded after the equaliser, almost regaining the lead when Jermaine Francis’s cutback in the box was stopped with a last-ditch tackle, before Reid saw his effort saved on the rebound.
On 73 minutes, Pharrell Brown got on the end of Reid’s flick on, rattling the right post with his shot from range, with Francis’s effort moments later flashing across the face of the goal.
Pools continued their pressure and were back in front courtesy of a thumping strike from Miley shortly after. After receiving the ball from Francis at the edge of the box, the midfielder powerfully fired home into the roof of the net.
With five minutes of normal time to play, the home team should have had a third. Tom Parkes’ header towards goal was nodded on by Reid, whose attempt bounced off the crossbar, and from there the Tinners managed to clear from their goal line.
Deep into injury time, though, Pools put the game to bed. Determined play from Francis led the ball to Reid, who clinically placed it into the left corner for his third goal contribution in as many games.
