Hartlepool United earned a 1-1 draw at the Prestige Group Stadium after coming from behind to level with Tamworth in the Enterprise National League
After a goalless first half, Tamworth opened up proceedings before Vadaine Oliver bagged an equaliser to open his Pools account.
The opening chance saw a great sequence of passing within the first ten as Johnson was fed through within the six-yard box, however the striker’s poked effort was stopped by a full spread Jasbir Singh.
Another chance would follow just past the first quarter after a blocked effort from Luke Charman hung to allow a high Jermaine Francis from close to produce a header collected by the keeper.
Brad Walker soon tested his luck from the edge of the box; his effort was struck well but just travelled shy of the keeper’s left-sided post.
The 40th minute saw a goal-line scramble after Charman cut in to send an effort that was stopped by Singh into the path of Matty Daly, whose follow-up was cleared off the line.
Seconds away from the half-time whistle, a Tamworth counter-attack led to Beck Ray Enoru teeing up Tyler Roberts, whose low strike was cleared off the line heroically by Nathan Sheron.
Tamworth broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half after Enoru turned past two before a chipped ball across from the byline was met by Oliver Lynch, who was able to head past Harvey Cartwright.
Soon after Pools equalised, Charman found space to cut in from the left before beating his man and playing it across the deck to Oliver, who cushioned the ball into the back of the net.
Despite battling hard, the last chance fell for Tamworth’s Tom Tonks, who had a low driven shot on the 94th minute, collected right down the throat of Cartwright.
