Pools head to Tamworth in midweek

Darren Sarll and his side travel 172 miles south to face Tamworth at The Lamb Ground on Tuesday night. With a win and a draw in the opening two, Pools look to maintain their unbeaten run and make it two from two on the road.

Hartlepool have never faced the home side in league action. Tamworth gained promotion into the National League last campaign after winning National League North, ending the season on 96 points, eight points above second.

Tamworth have started the season winless, with a draw at home to Sutton in their opener, followed by a 2-0 defeat to York away from home. Despite this, they are level on goals scored with Hartlepool, having both scored just one in the first two.

Pools’ most recent game ended in a stalemate at home to Southend, which saw them reduced to ten men with 40 minutes still to play. In the end it proved a good point, with Darren Sarll’s side having spent the majority of the second half with one less man.

From The Dressing Room

“I think all the lads showed how committed they are to get results for this football club,” stated Pools midfielder Jack Hunter following Saturday’s result.

“I love it when we’ve got two games in a week, that’s what we’re here for, we’re here to play. We have to recover well, go again and hopefully we’ll get the three points.”

Last Meeting

This is the first time the two sides have met in league action as they’ve never crossed paths in recent years. However, the two sides did meet in 2005, in an FA Cup fixture. Tamworth won the game 2-1 away from home, despite a Chris Llewellyn penalty for Pools.

Team News

Luke Waterfall will serve his one-game suspension on Tuesday night, after receiving two bookings against Southend.

Greg Sloggett will again be assessed prior to the fixture, while Luke Charman is doubtful following an ankle injury at the weekend. Dan Dodds also missed last weekend with a minor hamstring strain.

Kieran Wallace returned to full training on Monday however Tuesday’s fixture may come too soon for the midfielder.

Darren Sarll meanwhile explained that new signing Gary Madine “will need a measured and intelligent introduction to match play” having recently recovered from a long-term ACL injury.
