Woolston joined Hartlepool United in January 2024 as the Club's new goalkeeping coach under Kevin Phillips.

As a player, Woolston represented England at youth level after coming through the ranks at Sunderland and Newcastle United. He was the Magpies' third-choice keeper as they won the Championship during the 2016/17 season.

He gained senior experience on loan at Gateshead, Darlington, Blyth Spartans and South Shields before earning a dream move to Manchester United in 2018. He spent four years at Old Trafford, playing for their U23s and training with the first team, before being forced to retire due to injury.

Woolston, who also coaches in the Middlesbrough Academy, has gained great experience having worked with former international goalkeepers in David De Gea, Sergio Romero, Tom Heaton, Dean Henderson and Rob Elliot during his career.
