Pools take on West Auckland Town

Darren Sarll will be in the Pools dugout for the first time on Saturday as his side travels to West Auckland Town in a pre-season friendly. The fixture will kick off at 3pm at the Northern Metal Stadium.

Sarll watched from the stands last time out as a Pools XI, made up of trialists and academy players, scored eight past FC Hartlepool to open pre-season.

The Pools boss has confirmed in his latest press conference that a host of first-team players will be on show, with a selection of trialists also set to appear on Saturday.

West Auckland achieved great success last campaign, reaching the Northern League Division One play-off final and lifting the Durham Challenge Cup at the Stadium of Light.

Gary Forrest’s men opened their pre-season account last weekend with a 4-2 home victory over Ashington from the league above.

The last time Pools faced West Auckland was in October 2014, nearly a decade ago. That came through a Durham Challenge Cup fixture, where West ran out 2-1 winners against a Pools reserve side.
