Pools legends to be honoured at Victoria Park

Hartlepool United will honour the heroes of the 1990-1991 promotion-winning squad before kick-off against Tamworth, with Club Chairman Landon Smith presenting each member of the team with their medals in recognition of their outstanding achievement.

Pools secured a historic automatic promotion from the Fourth Division to the Third Division against considerable adversity following the devastating news that manager Cyril Knowles had been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Following a mid-season change in management, the team produced a remarkable 14-match unbeaten run under caretaker manager Alan Murray to finish third in the league, sealing promotion with a memorable 3-1 victory over Northampton Town.

Full squad list returning for our fixture against Tamworth:

Brian Honour, Keith Nobbs, Andy Davies, Mick Smith, John MacPhail, Ian Bennyworth, Paul Olsson, John Tinkler, Steve Tupling, Joe Allon, Paul Baker, Stephen Fletcher, Nicky Southall, John Shotton, Doctor David Russell.
