Hartlepool United Academy claimed their first win of the season on Saturday morning as Ian McGuckin’s side came from behind to defeat Port Vale on the road.
The sides were one-goal-a-piece at the break as Alex Pavan scored for Pools, while Liam Brazier converted a penalty for Port Vale.
Logan Cousins stuck Vale ahead around the hour mark, but goals from Rio Danes and Ollie Duthie in the last ten minutes saw Pools snatch a 3-2 victory.
“I’m delighted with the performance,” stated McGuckin at full time.
“It was a fantastic display which showed real attitude and desire to come from behind and get the win.
“That resilience really impressed me and now we’ve got that win, we can take the confidence into our upcoming games.”
Pools Academy are back at home on Saturday morning, facing Preston North End at Blackhall. The kick-off time will be confirmed in due course.
