Pools support World Down Syndrome Day

21 March 2024

Hartlepool United are proud to be showing their support for World Down Syndrome Day on March 21. This day is a day to educate people on down syndrome, showing how valued individuals are within their community.

The date for World Down Syndrome Day symbolises the 21st day of the third month, which was selected to signify the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which is down syndrome.

To support World Down Syndrome Day, we're asking supporters to join club captain Nicky Featherstone in wearing odd socks to help spread awareness.

This year, Down's Syndrome North East are celebrating its 21st year of becoming a registered charity. They enable people with down syndrome to live full and rewarding lives, relying on solely donations and volunteers.

On World Down Syndrome Day, the Millennium Bridge in Newcastle and Sunderland's Northern Spire will be lit up green and white to represent Down's Syndrome North East. This will be a pivotal moment to mark that amazing 21st celebration.
