Match Preview: Pools welcome Kidderminster Harriers

22 January 2024

After a fantastic win on the road at Ebbsfleet and the appointment of Kevin Phillips, Hartlepool United return to the Suit Direct Stadium on Tuesday night as Kidderminster come to town (7:45pm kick-off).

The Lowdown

Phillips will take charge after the fixture, as Lennie Lawrence and Antony Sweeney continue with caretaker duties, but the former Sunderland forward will be keeping a close eye on proceedings at home. After Saturday's 1-0 win at Ebbsfleet, courtesy of an Anthony Mancini stunner, Pools are seven points off the play-off places.

Kidderminster are bottom of the table, with just five wins all season. They've recently made a change in the dugout, with Tyneside-born Phil Brown taking over from Russell Penn. Brown is a familiar name to Pools fans having made more than 200 appearances for the club in the 70s and 80s. His first game in charge saw a 4-2 home victory over Aldershot Town, despite being two goals down in 25 minutes.

The History

The sides have met seven times previously, with Pools winning three matches, Kidderminster winning once, and three matches ending in a draw. Earlier this season, the sides played out a 1-1 draw.

Team News

Pools have no new injury concerns ahead of the fixture. Dan Dodds and Josh Umerah remain unavailable. Alex Lacey, Callum Cooke and Mani Dieseruvwe have returned to light training though Tuesday's fixture may come too soon for the trio.
