Joe Grey scored his 12th goal of the season to earn Hartlepool United a 1-1 draw against Dagenham & Redbridge at the Suit Direct Stadium.
Head coach Kevin Phillips made just the one change to the side which lost 3-1 at Maidenhead in midweek, with Terrell Agyemang replacing Chay Cooper, who reported ill.
There was a decent start from Pools, who saw plenty of the ball early own, with Nicky Featherstone firing wide from distance in the game's first shot at goal.
After that, there was little to excite at either end. There was a threat on the half-hour when David Ferguson teed up Callum Cooke, but he volleyed just over with his left foot.
Pools fell behind on 37 minutes to a fine goal by Dion Pereira. The hosts lost possession on half way and Pereira took off, swerving through the defence and scoring with his left foot.
Phillips' side began the second half with intent and had the first opportunity when Tom Crawford headed wide from Ferguson's corner.
And the boys in blue and white were level just before the hour thanks to Grey. The attacker made a lovely run in behind the away defence and Mani Dieseruvwe found him with an incisive pass, setting him up for a smart finish.
It certainly perked up Pools and Elliot Justham saved from a Crawford stab at a corner, before Cooke fired wide of the keeper's right stick from a 25-yard free-kick.
There was a chance for the Daggers at a corner 10 minutes from time, but Nik Tavares saw his shot saved by Pete Jameson.
It was the start of a busy few minutes with Justham making a strong saves from Grey before debutant Max Storey fired inches wide.
There was late drama as the Londoners almost snatched the win in the third minute of added time, but Tom Parkes was superbly placed to clear off the line from sub Harvey Kedwell’s header.
