Luke Hendrie returns to Hartlepool United

1 September 2023

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of Luke Hendrie on a season-long loan from Bradford City.

The defender is no stranger to Pools, having already enjoyed two spells at the Suit Direct Stadium during his career.

Hendrie made his senior debut with Hartlepool in 2015, on loan from Burnley. Following spells with Shrewsbury and Grimsby Town, he returned to Pools for the first half of the 2021/22 season before joining Bradford in the January transfer window.

Hendrie will be eligible to play on Saturday afternoon against Wealdstone, subject to FA ratification. He will wear the number 27 shirt - the same number he wore during his previous two spells at Pools.

Upon returning to the club, Hendrie commented:

"I'm really looking forward to it. It came up quite quickly and I can't wait to get going. The best way to join a new club is by getting straight into the thick of things. Hopefully I can do that at the weekend and we can get a positive result."

Manager John Askey added:

"We've brought Luke in with Dan Dodds getting injured. He's a good defender with plenty of experience and a winning mentality. I've worked with him previously at Shrewsbury so I know all about him and his character - he should fit into the group well. He knows the club already and he's raring to go."
