Pools sign Jameson

4 July 2023

Hartlepool United have bolstered their goalkeeping options ahead of the new season as Pete Jameson signs on loan from Harrogate.

Hartlepool United have bolstered their goalkeeping options ahead of the new season as Pete Jameson signs on loan from Harrogate. The experienced stopper worked under John Askey at York, and he comes in to provide competition for Joel Dixon.

After a youth career with Middlesbrough, Jameson played non-league football for Consett and Sunderland Ryhope Community Association. He signed for Darlington 1883 in 2013 before moving to Blyth Spartans and eventually York where he played under Askey.

Jameson joined his current club, Harrogate Town, in May 2022 and featured against Pools four times last season. He’s the second ‘keeper to join Pools this summer after the capture of Joel Dixon from Bolton Wanderers.

The Goalkeeper added:

Delighted to sign for Hartlepool. I know the Gaffer and Mark Goodlad well having worked with them at York. I’ve also played against Hartlepool a good amount of times to know this is a great club with great fans. The atmosphere at The Suit Direct has always been bouncing every time I’ve played here and I can’t wait to get started

John Askey commented:

An experienced goalkeeper who has a lot of games under his belt. Probably no secret he’s one we’ve chased for a while and he’s a great addition to work alongside Joel. We’d like to thank Harrogate for their cooperation is making this deal happen.
