Pools sign Dan Dodds

11 January 2023

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of Daniel Dodds from Middlesbrough on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old full-back joins Pools after spending time with National League North side Darlington FC earlier in the season.

Born in Northumberland, Dodds joined Middlesbrough on a scholarship before going to make appearances for their U18 and U23 sides, as well as appearing for their U21 side in the Checkatrade (now Papa John's) Trophy.

His time at Darlington drew the gaze of several Football League sides, and Pools have swooped to make the signing.

Keith Curle added: 'Exciting prospect. Gained valuable experience at Darlington, it’s been well documented his good progress at Middlesbrough as well. I’ve seen him four or five times live and he’s got good dynamics. He’s got a hunger and desire to improve.'

Dodds commented: 'As soon as I heard about the opportunity, it was a no brainer. I can see this is a good group and I have had some really good conversations with the Manager. I'm looking forward to getting started'.

Dodds will wear the number 37 and his move is subject to EFL clearance.
