Hartlepool United exited the Papa John's Trophy after a 6-0 home defeat to Everton U21s.
A slow start from Pools saw Everton take control of the game, and an early goal from Cannon gave the Toffees the lead. Hunt doubled the lead shortly afterwards before Mills got the third and Cannon's second gave Everton a fourth.
After the interval, Everton bagged two more goals. First, Mills got his second of the evening, and Whitaker got the sixth. Half-chances for Hastie and Ndjoli were as close as Pools came to a goal, with attention now turning to our league encounter with Swindon Town on Saturday.
