Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of Ellis Taylor on a season-long loan from Sunderland. The Hartlepool-born wideman played against Pools last week, putting in an impressive display for the Black Cats.
A former youth player for Seaton, Taylor joined the Sunderland academy when he was nine and he signed a professional contract with our northeast neighbours in 2021.
He made four appearances for Sunderland last season, featuring in the Carabao Cup once and the EFL Cup three times.
Taylor added:
"This is a dream come true for me. I have been coming to watch Hartlepool since I was five-year old. This is a great opportunity I couldn't turn down and I can't wait to get started".
Paul Hartley commented:
"He really impressed us in the pre-season game on Monday playing as a 10 or a wide player. It’s a good opportunity for him as a Hartlepool fan and we are looking forward to working with him."
Taylor will wear the number 17 and will be availabe for selection in this weekends matchday squad.
