Pools sign Morris

31 January 2022

Hartlepool United are pleased to announce the signing of Hartlepool-born midfielder Bryn Morris on loan until the end of the season. The former High Tunstall pupil joins us from Burton Albion and adds to Graeme Lee's options in midfield and defence, as he can also play at centre-back. Morris joins on an initial loan with the option to make the move permament for two years upon the end of the season.

Morris started his career at Middlesbrough, making his first-team debut in 2013 before heading out on loan to Burton, where he scored against Pools, and Coventry. Next, he enjoyed short-term loan spells at York City and Walsall before leaving Middlesbrough in early 2017 to join Shrewsbury.

Spells at Portsmouth, Northampton, and most recently Burton Albion again paved the way for Morris to join his hometown club under Graeme Lee.

Talking about his deadline day signing, the gaffer said:

"Great to get Bryn at the club. He is someone I’ve known for many years during my Middlesbrough days. He is a great talent who has been playing in the leagues above, he has showed a great desire to come to us. Hartlepool lad and a Hartlepool fan and I know he’s going to add a lot to this squad.

Morris said:

"It is obviously a dream come true to come back to my boyhood team. My whole family are from the town and Hartlepool fans. My brother sits in the NWC. I know the Gaffer well and I am looking forward to getting started and playing in front of these fans".

The midfielder goes straight into the squad and joins training, and is available for this weekend's FA Cup fixture against Crystal Palace after not featuring in Burton Albion's campaign this season. Morris will wear the number 28 shirt.
