Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of Wes McDonald. The attacker joins on a permanent deal after recently leaving League One side, Morecambe FC
McDonald initially joined Fulham as a scholar before transferring to Birmingham City’s academy. He was a regular in the Blues’ under-23 side and was earmarked as a first-team player by then-manager Gianfranco Zola.
After leaving Birmingham, McDonald signed for Yeovil Town and Walsall on short-term deals before agreeing a two-year contract with League One Morecambe in 2021.
Capable of playing on both wings and as an attacking midfielder, McDonald will wear the number 11 for the 2022/23 campaign.
McDonald added: "I am a direct, attacking player that wants to get the fans excited and off their seats. I have had some good conversations with the Gaffer and I knew straight away, Hartlepool was where I wanted to be".
Paul Hartley added: "Looking forward to working with Wes. He can go past people, create chances and strenghten our attacking line. He has vital experience with him recently playing in League One and we're excited to get him going".
