Match Preview: Pools welcome Salford

Pools v Salford Preview

After a thrilling encounter in midweek, Hartlepool United host Salford City this weekend looking to finish the season strongly. Goals from Joe Grey and Luke Molyneux saw Pools fight back to draw 2-2 at home to Mansfield Town.

The Opposition

Salford are currently 11th in League Two and come into the game of the back of three-match winning streak. In all, they’re unbeaten in 10, last losing to Northampton at the end of January.

The History

This will be the seventh meeting between the sides, with Pools winning twice previously. Salford have won three times, and one match has ended in a draw.

Earlier this season, Salford won 2-0, though the last time Pools were the home team, goals from Nicke Kabamba, Nicky Featherstone, and Luke James saw Craig Hignett’s side win 3-2.

Team News

Though Luke Molyneux’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared, Saturday is likely to come too soon for the in-form winger. Otherwise, the squad has a clean bill of health, providing Marcus Carver is fit after illness.
