Match Preview: Pools Host The Cobblers

8 October 2021

After overcoming League One Morecambe on penalties on Tuesday, Hartlepool United will want to continue their positive home form against Northampton Town on Saturday.

The Opposition

Northampton currently sit three places above Pools in 10th position. They're unbeaten away from home, but have won only one of their last five league games. The Cobblers side features plenty of players with Football League experience as well as a name familiar to Pools fans. Nicke Kabamba signed in the summer after a spell in Scotland, though the frontman is yet to get off the mark.

The History

The sides have met 67 times in the past, with Pools winning 24 of the previous encounters. Northampton have been the victors on 28 occasions, while 15 have ended in a draw. The last match between the sides was in 2016, a stalemate at Victoria Park.

Team News

Pools are still without key players, though influential full-back David Ferguson returned against Morecambe. Gary Liddle, Gavan Holohan, Tyler Burey, and Fela Olomola will all miss out on Saturday, with Joe Grey also likely to be absent. Jordan Cook and Mark Cullen both started on Tuesday evening, and the pair will hope to be involved again.

How to Follow

If you can't make it to The Vic on Saturday, the EFL are allowing all games to be live streamed due to the international break on iFollow. You can purchase your matchday pass below:
