We will get a healthy sell-on fee: Raj Singh on Brad Young's move

7 July 2021

We spoke to Hartlepool United Chairman Raj Singh following the departure of Brad Young to Leicester with the Chairman insisting it was important to keep the fans updated on current situations:

It was announced this week that Brad Young has made his permanent move to Leicester. He goes with the clubs best wishes. I will be monitoring Brad's career as it develops and as a club, we are really pleased he has been able to get his dream move.

We have been negotiating the deal for 6-7 months now with Leicester not being able to sign Brad until a certain date. Lee Rust and I spent that time trying to get the best deal possible and we are now very satisfied with the outcome. If Brad does well, future payments negotiated with Leicester will come our way. There is a healthy sell-on fee included and hopefully, we will see substantial payments come into the club in the future.

We would like to thank Leicester for how they have handled the deal with us being a non-league club at the time. They have shown us the respect we deserve and now both parties have got the best deal possible. It just shows that these types of deals can be done where all parties are satisfied without having to do any underhand tactics by either the club or player.

I personally wish Brad all the best and thank him for being a part of last season's promotion-winning squad. It was great to speak to him at the team hotel in Bristol after the promotion final and enjoy the celebrations together.

Brad goes with our best wishes. He is a great lad with a fantastic career ahead of him.
