In their final game of a testing pre-season, Hartlepool United
travel to Dunston UTS hoping to build on the more-positive performance at Blyth
on Tuesday. Dave Challinor's side are bolstered by the signing of Zaine
Francis-Angol, with the left-back brought back to compete with David Ferguson
on the left-hand side of defence. The Opposition
Former winners of the FA Vase, Dunston UTS are based in Gateshead
and currently compete in the Northern Premier League. The Tynesiders are led by
Chris Swailes, a man vastly experience at National League level and below. After
playing for Peterborough, Ipswich, and Bury, Swailes won the FA Vase with Dunston
in 2012 and Morpeth in 2016.The History
Pools have a 100% record against Dunston, winning both of
the previous fixtures. In 2017, Pools won 7-0 after goals from Oates, Adams,
Munns, Travers, Mondal, Hawkes, and Cassidy, while 2015 saw a 3-0 victory
thanks to goals from Bingham, Featherstone, and Carroll.Team News
Dave Challinor has a fully fit squad to choose from apart from Joe Grey who is continuing his comeback from a back injury. In his post-match comments, Challinor said that Pools are being ultra-careful with Grey, but that he should be training again soon. Trialist 9 from the Spennymoor clash may return in attack, with the trialists from Tuesday's game also in contention.
