Match preview: Pools travel to Dover

4 February 2021

Hartlepool United head to Dover this weekend looking to continue on from the great result last weekend against Sutton United.

Dave Challinor's squad have had a full week of training after Tuesdays game against Halifax was postponed. The manager has described the week as ‘a time for players to improve and those who had little injuries, have been able to recover.'

Opponents this weekend, Dover, have certainly had an inconsistent season in terms of games played with the current COVID situation. They currently sit second from bottom having played 15, won three, drawn one and lost 11. The Whites most recently played on Saturday as they were beaten 3-1 away to Yeovil. However they picked up a good results the Tuesday before as they ran out 3-1 winners at home to Barnet.

After finishing 12th in the National League last season, 12 new players came through the doors of the Crabble Stadium and a few wins with their games hand could push the Whites out the relegation zone.

Hartlepool don't have the greatest record against Dover. The two sides have only ever met six times with Pools only winning one, drawing one and losing four. Last season we were defeated 2-0 in the home fixture with a 1-1 draw in the away clash back in January 2020
