FA Cup: Pools to travel to Salford in first round

27 October 2020

Last night, the first round proper draw took place where we learned that Pools will travel to Salford to take on the League Two side.

Pools put on an impressive display in the fourth round qualifying where they beat Ilkeston 6-0 in front of the BBC cameras but the squad looks forward to the test of facing Paul Scholes' side, who is recently newly appointed.

The sides last met in the 2018/19 season where Pools fell to a 3-0 defeat at the Peninsula stadium but turned it around with a 3-2 victory at The Vic in the April.

After the draw was made, we spoke to Dave Challinor to get his thoughts:

"Good draw although a very tough one. Would have been great to be at home but at least being away isn't too far away. The Salford story and rise is obviously very well publicised but for us as we've said before it's a chance to show what we can do against a team who we strive to be at the same level as. We've 2 or 3 massively important games before that comes around but when it does we'll fancy ourselves and do whatever we can to progress".

The tie will be played on November 7th 2020.
