Pools have added another defender to their squad with the signing
of Timi Odusina on loan from Premier League side Norwich City until the end of
The versatile 19-year-old spent the second half of last
season working under Dave Challinor at AFC Fylde and the Pools boss was keen to
bring him to Victoria Park for this term's run-in.Most comfortable in the centre of defence, Odusina has been
with The Canaries since he was 14 when he made a move from Arsenal and he
signed professional terms at Carrow Road in 2016.Since then he's gone on to skipper City's Under-23 side in
Premier League 2 before gaining senior experience with his spell at Mill Farm
last season. With recent injuries and the departure of Peter Kioso to
Luton Town, Challinor has moved to strengthen his defensive options and Odusina's
arrival comes hot on the heels of Macauley Southam-Hales' move from Fleetwood
Town earlier on Thursday.“Timi is someone I had with me last season at Fylde and hedid a good job for us,” Challinor explained.
“He's a centre-back by trade though perhaps not the typical
centre-back at this level in terms of size – but he's really athletic and very,
very quick so he will allow us to defend high up the pitch and give us cover at
the back.“He's capable of doing a job at full-back when needed, he
knows what I am all about and we know him so we've kept an eye on his progress
and he's been doing well for Norwich's Under-23s.“We're really pleased we've been able to bring him inbecause he will be a good addition for us.”
Odusina will wear squad number 12 during his stay at The Vic
and will go straight in to contention for a debut when Pools host Stockport
County on Saturday.
