Pools Duo Judge School Kit Competition

11 February 2020

Pools boss Dave Challinor and Chief Executive Mark Maguire

paid a visit to West Park Primary School last week to carry out a very

important task.

They were invited along to help choose the winner of a competition

in which pupils had been asked to come up with a design for the school's new

sports kit.

A panel of teachers managed to whittle down the entries to a

shortlist before Challinor and Maguire arrived on Friday afternoon to pick what

they considered to be the best design.

After a long period of discussion and debate, it was Toby's

blue and white (surprise, surprise!) kit that came out on top and he was

declared the winner in a special school assembly.

As part of Toby's prize, he will be mascot for a fixture at

Victoria Park while the rest of the children who made the shortlist were also given

tickets to a Pools game.

“It was such a tough decision because all of the shortlisteddesigns were of such a high standard,” admitted Challinor.

“Perhaps it wasn't a big shock that we opted for a blue and

white design – though, being a Liverpool fan, there was a red one that caught

my eye!

“But Toby's was a worthy winner. He had obviously put a lot of work in to it and I can't wait to see the finished product once it's been manufactured. I'm sure they will look very smart.”
