A weekly meeting at Victoria Park is helping men of all agesopen up about their mental health and be reminded that it's okay to talk.
Andy's Man Club meets every Monday evening at 7pm in the
Centenary Lounge at Victoria Park as local men of all ages and backgrounds come
together in a non-judgemental environment to talk and to listen to each other. There are dozens of venues around the country hosting Andy'sMan Club sessions but we're delighted that the Hartlepool base is at The Vic.
Andy's Man Club was set up in 2016 by former professional
rugby player Luke Ambler after his brother-in-law Andy Roberts committed
suicide at the age of just 23.Luke was determined to ensure that something positive came from
the tragedy and help prevent other families suffering the same sort of
devastation that was caused by Andy's death.Since then, Andy's Man Club has gone from strength to strength
and the group sessions have changed the lives of hundreds of men who had hit
rock bottom and felt they had nowhere else to turn. The numbers are growing at a remarkable rate and its success
highlights that men are crying out for a place to share their issues and no
longer keep their troubles locked up inside their heads.Anyone can come along. There is no referral, no signing in,
no registration and no cost. Just simply join us in the Centenary Lounge any
Monday from 7pm, grab a brew and talk as much or as little as you like.Men do not need to have had suicidal thoughts to attend the
group – they can be just going through one of life's little storms and need a
place to share. So if you think you could benefit from coming along to Andy'sMan Club then we'll see you in the Centenary Lounge every Monday from 7pm.
