Sweeney In Charge For Yeovil - Maguire

7 November 2019

Mark Maguire has confirmed that Antony Sweeney and Ian McGuckin

will remain in charge of the First Team for this weekend's FA Cup tie against

Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

The Club announced on Tuesday afternoon that Dave Challinor

is to be the new Manager and the 46-year-old is now set to take the reins on

Monday.

In an extended interview now available on the Club's YouTube

Channel, Chief Executive Maguire has spoken of his excitement about the

appointment of Challinor but also paid tribute to the work that has been done

by Sweeney and McGuckin.

“We're delighted that Dave has agreed to join us,” he toldPools TV.

“We've agreed the terms and his contract, and there are a

couple of small things he's trying to resolve with Fylde so, to give the

appropriate time for that, our plan is for him to start work properly on Monday.

“In the meantime, Tony Sweeney and Ian McGuckin willcontinue to take the team, while Dave will be around with a watching brief.

“We're in a luxurious position with the job that the two of

them have done to be able to give Dave that time and it's not preventing him

being around the place.

“In any circumstances, for this weekend he would probably have been watching what was going on rather than diving in and making drastic changes.”
